Custom kitchens, wardrobes and joinery for Port Macquarie - designed, built and installed with over 12 years of local experience
A kitchen is the heart of a Port Macquarie home, and ours are designed and built to suit the way you actually cook and gather. We handle the full job: cabinetry, doors, drawers, pantries, island benches and benchtops, measured and installed by our own team. On benchtops we work only with compliant materials, natural stone such as granite and marble through licensed stonemasons, porcelain and sintered stone, solid timber, laminate and stainless steel. We do not fabricate, supply or install engineered or reconstituted stone (the Caesarstone-type quartz), because its manufacture, supply and installation are banned nationally from 1 July 2024 under Australia's silicosis reforms. Wet-area cabinetry uses HMR moisture-resistant board, with soft-close hardware throughout. You get a free measure-and-quote and a fixed, itemised price.

Port Macquarie Custom Cabinets
We design kitchens to suit the home, from compact coastal-cottage galley layouts to large island kitchens and butler's pantries for the new Thrumster and Sancrox builds. Cabinetry can run from cost-effective laminate doors through to timber veneer and 2-pac polyurethane finishes for a premium look. On the benchtop, your compliant choices are natural granite or marble supplied and fabricated through licensed stonemasons, porcelain or sintered stone, solid timber, laminate and stainless steel. Each has its own look, price and upkeep, and we will talk you through what suits a busy coastal kitchen. What we will not offer is engineered or reconstituted stone, for the legal reason set out below. Everything else, from overheads to soft-close drawer banks, is built to your brief.
Port Macquarie Custom Cabinets
It starts with a free in-home measure and a design conversation about layout, storage and finishes. Carcasses are built from hard-wearing melamine board, with HMR moisture-resistant board under sinks and in other damp-prone spots, moisture resistant rather than waterproof, but far better suited to a coastal kitchen. Doors are made in your chosen laminate, veneer or 2-pac finish, and we fit soft-close hinges and drawer runners as standard, the sort of quality hardware Blum and Hettich are known for. Any natural stone or porcelain benchtop is templated and installed by licensed stonemasons we coordinate on your behalf. Our own team installs the cabinetry, scribes it to the walls and sets everything level. We tidy the site before handing the kitchen over.

With more than twelve years building kitchens across Port Macquarie and the Hastings, Steve Smith knows how salt air, humidity and older homes behave. We are fully insured with twenty million dollars of public liability, quote a fixed and itemised price, and build and install with our own team rather than subcontracting the lot out. We are open about materials: timber and veneer can move a little with humidity, HMR is moisture resistant rather than waterproof, and we would rather set honest expectations than overpromise. We stand behind our workmanship, and manufacturer warranties cover the hardware and materials we fit. From a Lake Cathie downsizer's tidy modernisation to a full Sovereign Hills island kitchen, the job is scoped to your home. And you deal with a local, not a distant call centre.

Kitchens vary enormously, so treat any figure as a guide until we have measured. As a rough range, a modest laminate kitchen replacement often starts somewhere around $12,000 to $20,000, a mid-range kitchen with a stone benchtop commonly runs $20,000 to $40,000, and a large island kitchen with premium 2-pac doors and a natural-stone top can go well beyond that. Benchtop choice moves the price a fair way: laminate is the most budget-friendly, while natural stone and porcelain carry stonemason supply and fabrication costs. Size, materials, finishes, hardware, appliances and site access all feed into the number. After a free measure we give you a fixed, itemised quote, so you can see where the money goes. Port Macquarie Custom Cabinets
Flat-pack kitchens are sold in standard cabinet sizes, which seldom line up with the walls in older Port Macquarie homes or the specific brief of a new build. With no IKEA on the Mid North Coast, flat-pack usually means an online order and self-assembly, or a long drive south towards Newcastle, then you still have to arrange install and a benchtop separately. A custom kitchen is measured to your room, uses the full run of space, and is designed around your appliances, cooking habits and storage. We coordinate the compliant benchtop and install the whole lot ourselves, so there is one local point of contact from measure to aftercare. For the busiest room in the house, that fit and accountability matter. It is bespoke, not a carton.
Practical, hard-working laundry cabinetry made and installed across Port Macquarie and the Hastings. Moisture-resistant board, clever storage and soft-close hardware, measured to the room you actually have.
Bespoke kitchens made and installed across Port Macquarie and the Hastings, from Town Beach houses to new Thrumster builds. Coastal-aware materials, soft-close hardware and a fixed, itemised quote before we start.
Bespoke built-in joinery for Port Macquarie and the Hastings - window seats, display shelving, mudroom storage, under-stair cupboards and the tricky spaces standard cabinets never suit. Measured, built and installed by our own local team.

We visit your home anywhere across Port Macquarie and the Hastings to measure the space and understand how you want to use it. From there we help you shape the design and choose materials, finishes and hardware suited to the room and the coastal setting. You then receive a fixed, itemised quote in writing, with no charge and no obligation, so you can decide with all the detail in front of you.

Once the design and quote are approved, your cabinetry is made to measure in our local workshop. Building off site keeps dust and disruption out of your home and lets us control quality at every stage. We use materials chosen for the job, including moisture-resistant board in wet areas, along with quality soft-close hardware from recognised brands such as Blum and Hettich.

When your cabinetry is ready, our own team installs it on a firm booked date, fitting everything precisely to your space. We handle the install ourselves rather than subcontracting it out, so the people who built your joinery are the ones who fit it. We tidy up as we go and walk you through the finished result before we leave.
No. We do not fabricate, supply, process or install engineered or reconstituted stone, including quartz products of the Caesarstone type. Australia banned the manufacture, supply and installation of engineered stone nationally from 1 July 2024, with importation prohibited from 1 January 2025, because of the serious silicosis risk to the workers who cut it. For your Port Macquarie kitchen we fit compliant benchtops instead, natural stone, porcelain or sintered stone, timber, laminate or stainless steel.
It comes down to look, budget and upkeep. Natural granite is hard-wearing and well suited to a busy coastal kitchen, porcelain and sintered stone give a sleek modern finish, laminate is the most budget-friendly, and timber or stainless suit particular styles. In a salt-air setting around Town Beach or North Haven we will talk through sealing and maintenance for each. All of these are compliant options, unlike engineered stone, which we do not supply.
Absolutely, and it is a large part of our work for retirees and downsizers around Port Macquarie, Lake Cathie and Laurieton. We can replace the cabinetry and benchtop entirely, or where the layout still works, reface doors and fit a new compliant benchtop for a smaller spend. We measure the existing space so the new kitchen suits walls that are rarely square in older homes. You get a fixed, itemised quote either way.
Yes. We build full kitchens, islands and butler's pantries for new homes in Thrumster (Sovereign Hills), Sancrox and the surrounding corridors. Because these are new rooms we measure once they are lined and ready, so the cabinetry fits precisely. You choose the doors, finishes and a compliant benchtop, and our team handles the install. It is a made-to-measure result rather than standard modules.
Natural stone and porcelain benchtops are templated, fabricated and installed by licensed stonemasons, and we coordinate that step for you as part of the job. This keeps the specialist work with the right trade while we handle the cabinetry, doors and overall project. It also means the benchtop is measured off the installed cabinets for a proper fit. Laminate and timber tops we can handle directly.
Most kitchens run over several weeks from sign-off to completion, though the exact timeframe depends on scope, finishes and the benchtop material. After your free measure we design the kitchen, build the cabinetry in our workshop, install it, then the stonemason templates and fits any stone top. Natural-stone and porcelain tops add lead time because they are made to measure off the installed cabinets. We will give you a realistic schedule with your quote, call 0407 204 572.
